Connecting a turntable fitted with 2x RCA sockets + ground post to the mini XLR input of the Musical Fidelity MX-VYNL will result to a balanced mode (just like if you were connecting a tonearm with a 5pin DIN socket). Of course, by design, the geometry of the RCA socket is not ideal for a balanced connection (nor the connection of any symmetrical wiring) but this is a compromise which does not affect the number of available contacts nor the balanced character of the cable.

As with all balanced connections from the phono cartridge, you always need to make sure that the internal turntable and tonearm wiring is symmetrical (not coaxial) and that at no point the cartridge/tonearm/turntable ground is connected to the signal negative (-ve). Note that Musical Fidelity discourages the use of RCA turntables with the balanced input of the MX-VYNL (mainly because of the assumption that the RCA cables will use their shields connected to the signal ground / -ve which is not the case with the cables we produce for this application).


RCA - Mini XLR cables have been very popular for some time and given the numerous requests we had for them we have decided to make them available here.
